When to seek care

  • A fall with a blow to the teeth
  • Pain that keeps the child awake
  • Swelling or abscess

My child knocked a tooth. What should I do now?

Stay calm and check for bleeding or a loose, broken, displaced or knocked-out tooth. Press a clean gauze on any bleeding and contact us by WhatsApp or phone as soon as possible.

Permanent tooth knocked out: hold it by the crown (the white part) without scrubbing the root, keep it in milk or saline and come in immediately. A knocked-out baby tooth should not be put back, but the child needs to be seen.

Toothache in children

Pain that wakes the child at night, swelling of the face or gums, and fever together with toothache all call for a prompt assessment.
